Telephone Entry

I have a DS3 intercom I am installing with a P-0920 station. I believe I have wired everything properly but I cannot activate the strike. Is there something I am missing?

To ensure you have wired correctly please consult the DS3 manual. More often than not, either there is a loose connection or improper wiring. Is there a way to integrate a magnetic lock into the Channel Vision telephone entry controller P-0921?

Asked By – On June 30, 2014 – With Comments Off

Yes you can integrate a magnetic lock with the P-0921, however you will require a separate relay board to convert the normally closed contact on magnetic locks to a normally open since our system only uses normally open contact closures. The relay you will need is called an ELK 960. Please contact Channel Vision directly ...

I purchased a house with a P0921 and am not sure I have the right power supply. What I have is a SMC 12v 1.25 amp output.

Asked By – On June 24, 2014 – With Comments Off

The P-0921 when purchased comes with a 12V AC 500 mA power supply. What this means is a 12 Volt, Alternating Current, 500 milliamp power supply. Using a higher amperage will not damage the unit, the P-0921 will only draw what it needs as long as it is  12V. The unit comes with an AC power ...

My P-0920 is making my phones ring continuously…one long solid ring. I have tried disconnecting the doorbell from the unit but the problem persists so I don’t think that it is the doorbell unit that is bad, Phone service is fine. Installed in Nov 2013. Purchased new at that time. Any advice?

A continuous ring such as the one you have described is most often the result of a short somewhere in the system. The fact that the issue continues even when the door station is disconnected from the controller is a good indication the station itself and the wiring from the station are not the cause. ...

P-0920 – We Would like to use the feature of using our door chime as well the ringing of our phones. Our installer was not able to set it up this way. What are the proper instructions to accomplish use of this feature?

Asked By – On June 11, 2014 – With Comments Off

The P-0920 has a “Chime” contact closure built into it. To utilize this feature, you simply need to connect the “NEGATIVE” or “GROUND” wire from the chime units power supply to one side of the phoenix connector on the chime contact. You would then run another wire out of the other side of the phoenix ...

Is the TE-111 ok to use on phone line with U-Verse DSL?

Asked By – On May 19, 2014 – With Comments Off

AT&T U-Verse is more of a hybrid IP phone service, therefore it has been successfully integrated with the Channel Vision telephone entry controllers. As long as the system uses normal phone cables, and the proper phone voltage is supplied on the incoming line it will be compatible. There are “true” IP phone services that will strictly use ...

I’m trying to connect a new TE-111 system to an existing DP-0252 doorbell. With all wires connected as instructed I’m getting dial tone in my phones but nothing is happening when i press the doorbell. How can I diagnose this problem to understand which device (if any) is defective? Note: I’m getting power into the doorbell and I’ve tried reconnecting all the connections.

Connect a butt set or test phone, use a test wire and short the intercom terminal on the TE-111. Does this activate the phones? If the phones do not activate from here there may be an issue with the controller. If the phones activate when this is done, next test again with your original phones? Do ...

I was thinking of purchasing the front door IU series intercom. What is the difference between the TE-111 controller and the P-0920 controller? What is needed for the intercom to work? Do you need both, or just one controller? And what are the benefits of one over the other?

Asked By – On May 19, 2014 – With Comments Off

You will only require one controller to operate a given system. Both the TE-111 and P-0920 are single door controllers. The primary difference between the TE-111 and the P-0920 is the TE-111 requires an active incoming phone line, whereas the P-0920 has the ability to function with or without an incoming phone line using a feature called “NO ...
