CAT5 Intercom Pinout

Occasionally installers want to know the pin out of the CAT5 Home Intercom System, because they want to know if they can hook up the system with less than 8 wires.

Channel Vision’s CAT5 Home Intercom System requires a minimum of 7 wires to function with an ST-2000 Home Intercom Station, and 6 wires to function with a CAT5 compatible IU Series or DP Series Front Door Intercom.

The following color assignments reference the pins on the P-0930, ST-2000 & CAT5 compatible IU Series or DP Series punch-down connectors:

The only lines that are redundant are the Brown/White and Green wires. All other wires are needed if using an ST-2000.

The IR line is needed for the station to send control signals to the hub, if using an ST-2000. NOTE: If using a DP or IU-xxxxC door station, the solid blue (IR Wire) can also be removed.

In total, if using a DP or IU-xxxxC door station, the solid blue and solid green wire can be removed. If using an ST-2000, only the solid green wire can be removed. The Logic Mode lines allow the hub to communicate with the stations. The Voice Communication line is required. The power and ground lines are needed to make things work.
